Shavkat Mirziyoyev congratulates Pakistan’s President and Prime Minister on Independence Day
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has congratulated the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Imran Khan on the country’s Independence Day, the presidential press service reported.
Pakistan’s Independence Day, which is annually held on August 14, celebrates the country’s independence from the British rule on that date in 1947. This day is an occasion to promote patriotism and national unity. Independence Day is a public holiday. It is a day off for the general population, and schools and most businesses are closed.
For information, Uzbekistan established diplomatic relations with Pakistan on May 10, 1992. The Embassy of Pakistan in Tashkent was opened in June 1992. The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Islamabad began to function in July 1994.
