Due to strong winds and the danger of avalanches, the Kamchik Pass has been temporarily closed for traffic, the Ministry of Emergencies reported.

“At the moment, specialized services are working to improve the situation. When the route is safe for passage, traffic on the pass will be restored again,” the department noted.
Heavy snows usually cause the pass to be temporarily closed for traffic in winter. But this year, cold temperature with snow reached the mountainous regions of the country earlier than in previous years.
