Tashkent, Osh may launch international bus service through Khojand
According to the draft presidential decree, measures will be taken to reach an agreement with the Government of Tajikistan on opening the highway passing through the city of Khojand.
The draft decree of the President “On measures to further develop pilgrimage tourism in Uzbekistan and create favorable conditions for pilgrims” has been published.
In accordance with the “Roadmap” for the reception of foreign tourists from far abroad and neighboring republics, the creation of favorable conditions for them, measures will be taken to improve and develop transport and logistics services from 2021.
In particular, negotiations will be held on launching bus services with major cities of the neighboring countries where the Uzbek diaspora resides – Osh, Jalal-Abad, Turkestan, Shymkent, Dushanbe, Khojand, Mazar-e-Sharif to cities with high tourism potential.
Measures will also be taken to reach an agreement with the Tajik government on opening the highway passing through the city of Khojand to reach Osh from Tashkent. As a result of the agreement, an international regular bus service will be launched.
The State Committee for Tourism Development, the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are responsible for the implementation of the project.
