In accordance with a presidential decree signed on January 14, 2021, the erstwhile rector of the Termiz State University Abdukodir Toshkulov has been appointed Minister of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education.

As the ministerial press service reports, by relevant decrees of the Cabinet of Ministers, rectors of several higher education institutions have changed:
Inomjon Majidov, who headed ministry to date, has been appointed rector of the National University of Uzbekistan;
Uktam Salomov – rector of the Fergana Polytechnic Institute;
Avazjon Marahimov – rector of the Termiz State University.
For information, Avazjon Marahimov had been working as the rector of the National University of Uzbekistan since September 2016.
Earlier, the Legislative Chamber considered the candidacy of Abdukodir Tashkulov for the post of the Minister of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education. Deputies approved his candidacy.
