Kazakhstan to build a high-speed rail line from Turkestan to Tashkent
It is planned to start building a high-speed rail line from Turkestan through Shymkent to Tashkent this year. This was announced on January 26 by Prime Minister Askar Mamin at an expanded meeting of the government of Kazakhstan with the participation of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
“This year, work will begin on the implementation of investment projects for 1.1 trillion tenge. In particular, a set of measures will be taken to develop ecotourism, national parks as promising tourist destinations. To increase the influx of tourists, the construction of a high-speed rail line on the route Turkestan-Shymkent-Tashkent will be launched,” Mamin said.

It should be recalled that in March 2017, the high-speed train Tulpar-Talgo began to run on the route Tashkent-Almaty-Tashkent. Travel time is approximately 17-18 hours. Parking lots along the route: Otar, Chu, Taraz, Shymkent and Saryagash.
It was also reported that the parties are working on the launch of a high-speed train en route Samarkand-Turkestan.
