Karakalpakstan: four people buried underground during earthworks
According to the reports, three of them were under 18.
The accident occurred in the morning of June 9 in the Suuyenli village in the Kungrad district of Karakalpakstan. Four workers, aged 31, 17, 15 and 14, were laying underground water supply.
During the earthworks, ground surrounding the workers collapsed and they were trapped underground.
Unfortunately, two minors who were involved in such difficult work – 14 and 15-year-old teenagers – as well as their adult colleague, died at the scene of the accident. The 17-year-old boy was the only member of the crew who survived. He was taken to a local hospital.
The local prosecutor’s office is conducting pre-investigation check on this case.
