Kamilov discusses with US Secretary of Defense “the fight against common challenges and threats”

Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov held a meeting with the US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin on July 1.

During the meeting, the head of the Pentagon congratulated Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov on the 30th anniversary of Uzbekistan’s independence.

The sides discussed topical aspects of bilateral cooperation in a number of spheres, including interaction on the defense line, ensuring regional security, and combating common challenges and threats.

It was noted that thanks to regular dialogue at various levels and directions, in recent years, Uzbek-American relations have shown positive dynamics of development.

US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin welcomed Uzbekistan’s longstanding support for international efforts to stabilize the situation in Afghanistan and its readiness to assist in the country’s economic reconstruction and integration into the Central Asian region.
