Uzbekistan strengthens liability for resisting a representative of authorities
At the XIX plenary session, senators discussed the law “On amendments to the Criminal Code and the Administrative Responsibility Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan”.
According to the parliamentary press service, the law strengthens the penalties in the Criminal Code for the commission of a crime related to resisting a representative of the government or a person performing a civil duty.
The second direction is the amendments made to the Administrative Responsibility Code, which provide for increased responsibility for failure to comply with the legal requirements of an employee of the internal affairs bodies or a serviceman (employee) of the National Guard, resistance to the performance of their official duties and failure to comply with the legal requirements of a representative of the authorities or resistance to the performance of their official duties.
“The law provides legal protection for representatives of the country’s authorities by establishing in the Criminal Code responsibility for resisting a government representative,” the Senate stressed.
Also, with the introduction of amendments to the Administrative Responsibility Code, conditions are created for the unimpeded implementation of legal activities not only of employees of the internal affairs bodies or military personnel (employees) of the National Guard, but also of other authorities by increasing responsibility for resisting or obstructing the performance of their official duties. In addition, the health and safety of life of government officials will be protected.
The law was approved by the senators.
