It was noted that the territory of Uzbekistan belongs to the arid zone of Central Asia. 80% of the country consists of desert and semi-desert areas, surrounded by huge mountain ranges to the southeast and east.

The arrival of high levels of solar radiation and atmospheric circulation shape the continental climate, the air temperature is characterized by considerable variability, and summers are hot and dry, springs are humid, winters are variable.

The territory of the country is open to the entry of various air masses. Atlantic and Arctic air masses flow into wide plains from the north, northwest, and west. In winter, as a result of the inflow of tropical air masses in the warm part of the southern cyclones, the temperature rises sharply and then falls sharply.

In summer, the extreme heat of desert areas forms the continental tropical air, which is characterized by extreme dryness. Precipitation is very low (around 80-200 mm per year), in which case their variability is very large. The Aral Sea has almost no effect on the amount of precipitation, only high humidity is observed in the narrow coastal zone.

It has been reported that global warming has been observed in the last decade, which is the result of anthropogenic emissions of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, as well as other climatic factors.

“In 2021, the average annual temperature in Uzbekistan was 1.4-2.7 degrees above the norm.

In 2021, the annual rainfall was below the norm in most parts of Uzbekistan (39-80%), and around the norm in Khorezm region,” the report said.
