“It is probably premature to accuse someone now, because the commission that has been created is now working, and it is directly led by the vice minister of energy. It is a comprehensive consideration of all causes. At this stage, I can only say that it happened at about 11:50 by Nur-Sultan time,” Bolat Akchulakov said.

The minister explained that Kazakhstan managed to recover quickly due to the fact that the automation worked.

“I can unequivocally say that in Kazakhstan, the automation has worked, which protects the national system. If our automation did not work, we would fall out for a very long time. We would have very big consequences for the networks and the stations themselves,” Bolat Akchulakov explained.

What happened in the south of the country, according to the head of the Ministry of Energy, is a consequence of the fact that our system was automatically disconnected.

“Probably, our neighbors had no other recharge, and they experienced more problems in providing electricity than Kazakhstan, which was able to get together in four hours, restore work completely by the evening maximum. Let’s wait for the results of the investigation, and the details will already be clear there,” Bolat Akchulakov added.

He also commented on KEGOC statement that the reason for the blackout on January 25 was a short circuit at a TPP in Uzbekistan.

“Perhaps, it is like a system operator, it sees our system. It is just talking about this and says that our automation worked in response to violations from the southern zones,” Bolat Akchulakov concluded.

It should be recalled that earlier the Kazakhstani operator for the management of electric networks (KEGOC) said that the accident in the energy system of Central Asia, which occurred on January 25, is associated with a short circuit in Uzbekistan, which affected the operation of 6 power units at the Syrdarya TPP.

The press service of the Energy Ministry of Uzbekistan recalled that in connection with the situation, on behalf of the President, a government commission chaired by the Prime Minister of the country was established to investigate the causes of the incident.
