OneWeb plans to enter Uzbekistan’s market
Representatives of the company made proposals for the provision of high-speed broadband Internet to regions and remote rural settlements, enterprises of various sectors of the economy via OneWeb satellites.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Information and Communications, the other day, Minister for the ICT Development Sherzod Shermatov held a meeting with OneWeb Marketing Director Ivan Zaitsev.
“Today, OneWeb is implementing major projects in many countries around the world. The representative of the company expressed his intention to implement similar projects in Uzbekistan,” the report reads.
On May 16, a memorandum of understanding and cooperation was signed between Uzbekcosmos and the company. The main purpose of the memorandum is to attract the OneWeb satellite company to the Uzbek market, as well as a number of measures related to the services of the company’s non-geostationary satellite communication systems, including regulatory issues, discussion and determination of the main needs of the state in the use of OneWeb satellites.
At the meeting, the company also made proposals for the provision of high-speed broadband Internet to regions and remote rural settlements, enterprises of various sectors of the economy via OneWeb satellites.
Following the meeting, the parties exchanged views on issues of mutual interest.
