The issue was discussed during a government meeting focused on maintaining economic stability, where the president emphasized that inflation should be contained by increasing the supply of goods and services in the domestic market.
According to Mirziyoyev, regional leaders had previously been tasked with keeping inflation at 3% during the first half of the year. However, only the Samarkand region met that target, while all other regions fell short of the goal.
Particular attention was paid to rising meat prices. Officials noted that the cost of meat increased by 6–8% between April and June.
The meeting also heard that the government had allocated UZS 300 billion to compensate for the cost of transporting imported meat by air.
Entrepreneurs from Tashkent and Tashkent region imported 1,300 tonnes of meat under the program. According to the president, other regions failed to demonstrate the same level of initiative in addressing the issue.
Mirziyoyev instructed regional governors and relevant officials to review the balance between meat production and consumption in their respective regions and prepare detailed plans specifying import volumes, delivery schedules and the countries from which meat supplies will be sourced.
