President heavily criticizes chairman of Uzbekistan Railways
Chairman of Uzbekistan Railways JSC Khusniddin Khosilov was warned that he will be fired if he does not make changes in his system within 3 months, the presidential press service reported.
In the videoconference meeting dedicated to tourism issues, it was shown that the time of passenger transportation by car on the routes “Tashkent-Samarkand” and “Tashkent-Andijan” has increased by 1-1.5 hours, but the number and quality of railway and air services are not up to the required level.
Therefore, the relevant authorities have been tasked with the following:
- launching daily trips from the Valley regions to the cities of Tashkent, Nukus, Bukhara, Urganch;
- doubling of air and railway connections from the regional centers to the cities of Tashkent, Nukus, Bukhara, Karshi, Termiz and Urganch;
- adoption of a separate program for the reconstruction of at least 500 old-type wagons in the next two years;
- establishment of effective use of the infrastructure of congress halls, palaces, hotels in the regions;
- together with Swiss experts, commencement of training in Bukhara, Zomin and Bostonliq tourism colleges based on new curricula in hotel management, service and other areas;
- approving the plan of measures for training and improving the qualifications of middle-level employees in the hotel and service sector at the “Silk Road” Tourism University, training at least 1 thousand young people per year.
