Drug trafficker who attempted to smuggle 55 kg of hashish and heroin into Uzbekistan in a Mercedes gas cylinder arrested
Narcotics and synthetic drugs hidden in car fuel tanks were stopped at the border customs post in Tashkent region.
A Mercedes light vehicle driven by a citizen of a neighboring country, which entered Uzbekistan through the “Oybek” border customs post of the Tashkent region customs department, was stopped for customs inspection.
During the inspection, it was found that 49 pieces of different shapes were hidden in its gas cylinder and 31 pieces of polyethylene wraps – in the gas tank, the State Customs Committee reported.
It is noted that the packages were examined in the central customs laboratory. 52 kg and 877 grams of hashish, more than 2 kg of heroin were found in polyethylene packages. Also, 950 grams of synthetic drugs were hidden in 1 glue container.
Currently, the customs authorities are investigating the case.
The committee recalls that in the cases of 329 customs law violations detected by the customs officers of the republic during the past period of 2023, illegal circulation of narcotics weighing 298 kg was prevented.
