Russian company launches production of agrochemicals near Samarkand

Part of the joint venture’s products will be exported to neighboring countries.

The Shchelkovo Agrokhim company is organizing the production of agrochemical preparations in Uzbekistan, the Russian trade mission reported.

The Russian-Uzbek joint venture Shchelkovo Agrohim Uzbekistan is located in the Urgut free economic zone, Samarkand region. Its opening ceremony took place on November 17.

The new plant will provide jobs for over 100 people and will be able to produce more than 20 thousand tons of plant protection chemicals annually. Some of the products will be exported, including to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.

The volume of investments in the enterprise amounted to more than $30 million. Thanks to this, Shchelkovo Agrokhim received tax benefits for a maximum period of ten years.

Construction of the plant started back in 2017. At the first stage, the company planned to create three production lines with a total capacity of at least 10 thousand tons and expected to spend $2 million on this.

By the beginning of 2019, the cost of the project had increased to $3 million. The launch date was postponed several times, including due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

For information, Shchelkovo Agrokhim is the largest player in the Russian agrochemical market. In its current form, the company was founded in 1998 and now has a production capacity of 50 thousand tons of products per year. The company's portfolio includes 465 drugs and more than 100 patents for its developments.
