Uzbekistan Airports refutes reports about closure of Fergana Airport for two months
Work to improve the air navigation system does not require the airport’s closure, Uzbekistan Airports said.
Uzbekistan Airways earlier announced that Fergana Airport would be closed for two months for reconstruction. However, Uzbekistan Airports refuted this information and noted that the renovation work does not require completely shutting down the airport.
“Modern radio navigation equipment – the DME/NL2700 long-range radio beacon and the SP-200 complex – will be installed at the airfield. It will improve the operation of air navigation systems in Fergana. The renovation work does not require closing the international airport,” Uzbekistan Airports said.
Currently, the airport is working as usual.
