Law enforcement officers detain Samarkand resident engaged in illegal gold mining
Reportedly, the man is also accused of illegally connecting to the electricity network and stealing 753 million soums worth of electricity.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, a Samarkand resident has been detained for his engagement in the illegal extraction of gold in the Koshrabot district.
The PGO noted that the man connected to the electricity network without any documents and stole 837 thousand kWh of electricity worth 753 million soums.
The prosecutor’s office initiated a criminal case against the man under Article 169 of the Criminal Code and he was detained in procedural order.
Currently, the preliminary investigation of the criminal case is being conducted.
