Football infrastructure to be developed in mahallas

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on Friday got acquainted with the development of football infrastructure in mahallas, the press service of the head of state reported.

The presentation was presented by the Minister of Sports Adham Ikromov and the First Deputy Chairman of the National Olympic Committee, First Vice-President of the Football Association Ravshan Irmatov. Bekzot Mavlonov, Presidential Adviser on Legal Expertise and Comprehensive Analysis, also took part in it.

The head of state was presented with plans for the development and expansion of football infrastructure in mahallas. The report named football as the most popular sport in the country.

To implement plans in mahallas, “existing stadiums and other sports grounds will be effectively used. Where they do not exist, such facilities will be built on the basis of public-private partnership,” the statement reads.

“Men’s and women’s mahalla teams of different age groups will be created. Talented young players will be sent to professional football institutions,” the message says.

Regional branches of the Football Association of Uzbekistan and sports schools will help youth leaders in makhallas organize this work.

Starting this year, based on the experience of the English School Football Association, a system for electing a school football leader among students in grades 8–11 will be introduced.

In addition, a two-level “Mahalla League” will be organized among teenagers 12-15 years old and a three-stage Cup of the State Security Service among the age category 16-30 years old.

“These events will contribute to the development of football infrastructure, the selection and support of talented youth, and the formation of a high-quality reserve for national teams,” the message says.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev approved these proposals and gave instructions on strengthening the atmosphere of sports and friendship among young people and holding competitions at a high organizational level, the press service of the head of state reported.
