President signs law on ratification of contract with Iran on transferring convicts
Ratification of the document will increase the effectiveness of the interaction of authorized bodies of the two states in this area.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the Law “On ratification of an agreement between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran on the transfer of convicted persons (Tehran, June 18, 2023)”.
In January of this year, senators noted that the ratification of this agreement creates a legal basis for the possibility of serving by citizens of Uzbekistan and Iran, deprived of freedom as a result of the commission of crimes appointed by the court of punishment in his country, as well as for bilateral cooperation in the field of transferring convicts.
Ratification and entry into force of the contract will form a regulatory framework in the field of transferring convicts, increase the effectiveness of the interaction of authorized bodies of the two states in this area.
It is noted that the contract was signed on June 18, 2023 during the official visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Iran.
