Uzbekistan sees decline in marriage registrations and increase in divorce rates
The Statistics Agency reports that approximately 48.6 thousand marriages were registered in Uzbekistan during January-March 2024. This figure is 900 less compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. The average age of women getting married was 23.3 years, while men averaged 28.2 years. The number of divorces has increased by 1.5 times compared to the same period in 2020.
In the first three months of 2024, there were 48,582 registered marriages in Uzbekistan, which is 900 fewer than the same period last year, according to the Statistics Agency.
During January-March 2024, the average age at marriage was 23.3 years for women and 28.2 years for men. The largest share of registered marriages involved women up to 25 years of age, accounting for 77.2% of all marriages.
The number of divorces recorded in January-March 2024 totaled 11.5 thousand, an increase of 3.7 thousand or 1.5 times more than the corresponding period in 2020.
Out of the divorces during this period, there were 5,301 without children (46.2%), 3,402 with one child (29.6%), and 2,778 with two or more children (24.2%).
The average age of individuals getting divorced in January-March 2024 was 37.4 years for men and 32.5 years for women. The largest share of divorces was among women up to the age of 35, representing 62.5% of all divorces.
