Uzbekistan registers over 31,000 marriages in early 2025
The National Statistics Committee reported that between January and February 2025, civil registry offices across the republic documented 31,775 marriage cases.
The distribution of these marriages by age groups for men is as follows:
- Under 20 years old: 1.4%;
- 20–30 years old: 78.7%;
- 31–40 years old: 13.6%;
- 41 years and older: 6.3%.
For women, the age distribution is:
- Under 20 years old: 35.3%;
- 20–30 years old: 52.4%;
- 31–40 years old: 9.4%;
- 41 years and older: 2.9%.
On March 18, during the fifth plenary session of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, the Children’s Ombudsperson presented a report on the observance of child rights legislation by state bodies. In the discussions, Senator Gulnora Marufova highlighted that early marriages in 2024 numbered around 300 cases, a sevenfold increase compared to 2023.
Additionally, in January and February 2025, civil registry offices recorded 135,914 live births across the republic. The distribution of these births between urban and rural areas is as follows:
- Urban areas: 66,555;
- Rural areas: 69,359.
The breakdown of recorded births by the number of children is:
- Single births: 132,669;
- Twin births: 3,150;
- Triplets or more: 95.
