Uzbek para-athletes secure 13 medals at World Championship in Japan
At the World Paraathletics Championships, which took place in Kobe (Japan) from May 17 to 25, the Uzbekistan team won 13 medals – 7 gold, 4 silver and 2 bronze, the press service of the National Paralympic Committee of Uzbekistan reported.
Thanks to such a number of awards, para-athletes of Uzbekistan for the first time in history took 3rd place in the team event among 103 participating countries. At the two previous world championships, athletes took 10th and 9th places.
The Chinese team took first place with 33 gold, 30 silver and 24 bronze medals. Second place is the Brazilian team with 19 gold, 12 silver and 11 bronze medals.
In addition, Nurkhon Kurbonova and Asila Mirzayorova broke world records in their respective areas.
