Passengers to receive refunds for non-operational air conditioning in train compartments
The Competition Committee has announced an investigation following reports that a group of artists traveled in a train compartment with a malfunctioning air conditioning system. Consequently, the cost associated with the air conditioning service in compartment-type carriages will no longer be charged, and ticket prices will be adjusted accordingly. If the air conditioning system in a passenger carriage fails to function, passengers will be compensated with a refund of a certain amount.
According to the Competition Promotion and Consumer Protection Committee, a specific amount will now be deducted from the ticket price for compartments with non-functional air conditioning.
In other words, while the ticket includes payment for air conditioning services, if the air conditioning fails during the train journey and this issue is confirmed, passengers will receive a refund for the lack of temperature regulation and cooling services.
Additionally, starting from July 19 of this year, "Uzbekistan Railways" JSC will no longer charge for the air conditioning service in compartment-type carriages, and the cost will be deducted from the ticket price.
Furthermore, the committee has stated that in case of similar issues, passengers can contact the organization or "Uztemiryolyolovchi" JSC with photo and video evidence of the non-functioning air conditioning system via the provided contact numbers and email addresses.
It should be recalled that on July 13 of this year, passengers of the "Khiva - Andijan" train, particularly artists, expressed dissatisfaction due to the air conditioning system not working in the hot weather.
The tickets sold to them indicated that the compartment would have functioning air conditioning. "Uztemiryolyolovchi" apologized, explaining that the malfunction was due to old carriages and abnormal heat. The Competition Committee announced the initiation of an investigation.
