Uzbekistan appoints new ambassador to South Korea
Alisher Abdusalomov, who previously headed the Secretariat of the Senate Chairperson, has been appointed as Uzbekistan’s new Ambassador to South Korea, replacing Vitaliy Fen, who led the Embassy in Seoul from 1995 to 2024 with a brief interruption and passed away in June of this year.
The newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan, Alisher Abdusalomov, arrived this morning in the capital of the Republic of Korea.
Before his appointment in Seoul, he led the Secretariat of the Senate Chairperson of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan.
The diplomat is 40 years old. He graduated from the Westminster International University in Tashkent and Kyung Hee University in South Korea.
Alisher Abdusalomov began his career at the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan (now the Ministry of Investments, Industry, and Trade), where he advanced from a leading specialist to the head of the Main Directorate. His career also includes significant diplomatic service. Notably, from 2013 to 2016, he served as a trade and economic advisor at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Japan, and from 2018 to 2024, he held the same position in South Korea.
Abdusalomov has been appointed to replace Vitaliy Fen, who served as the head of the Embassy in Seoul from 1995 to 2024, with a short break.
Uzbekistan’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to South Korea, Vitaliy Fen, passed away on June 18 at the age of 77.
