Veolia Energy Tashkent explains reasons for 15% increase in heating costs
Veolia Energy Tashkent has clarified that the upcoming 15% rise in tariffs for hot water and heating in the capital is due to increased gas and electricity prices.

“The tariff increase is driven by the rising costs of energy resources – gas and electricity – which are essential for the production of heat and hot water. In 2023, electricity tariffs for enterprises rose significantly. To cover these additional expenses, we had to raise tariffs for budget organizations and other legal entities starting December 2, 2023. However, our tariff for the public remained unchanged until the end of the 2023/2024 heating season. As of April 2, 2024, it increased by 15%, which is substantially lower than the growth in energy resource prices. This was the first tariff increase for the public since 2019,” the company’s statement reads.
It was noted that the current public tariff covers only 16% of the base tariff. After the forthcoming 15% increase, it will cover 18%. The remaining portion will continue to be subsidized by the government.
The company also informed that the decision by the capital’s Council of People's Deputies is an interim stage in approving the new tariff. It is then forwarded to the city’s mayor for consideration and subsequently published on the portal www.regulation.gov.uz for public discussion for a period of 15 days. Once the mayor signs the final decision, the tariffs will take effect 15 days after publication.
Earlier reports indicated that the public tariff will increase from 105,754 UZS/Gcal to 121,617 UZS/Gcal. For legal entities, the price will rise from 212,606 UZS to 244,497 UZS/Gcal.
