Ministry of Higher Education initiates legal action against several private universities in Uzbekistan
The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation has taken legal action against five private higher education institutions this year, aiming to revoke their licenses due to various violations. According to the ministry, a lawsuit has already resulted in the cancellation of one institution's license.
This year, the activities of 26 private higher education organizations were thoroughly reviewed. The findings revealed numerous errors and shortcomings in the operations of most of these institutions, raising concerns over compliance with established regulations.
Following these investigations, the ministry provided a one-month deadline for the identified institutions to address the shortcomings and violations. Institutions that failed to comply within the stipulated time frame faced lawsuits aimed at license revocation.
As part of this enforcement initiative, five lawsuits have been filed in relevant courts to revoke the licenses of private universities. In one case, the court has already approved the license cancellation, while four other cases were dismissed by the courts without satisfying the ministry’s requests.
