Italy’s new ambassador to Uzbekistan assumes office
Piergabriele Papadia de Bottini has officially commenced his duties as the new Ambassador of Italy to Uzbekistan. Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov received his credentials, marking the beginning of a new chapter in bilateral relations.
In a statement on his Telegram channel, Minister Saidov shared details of their meeting, highlighting the discussion of priority areas on the strategic cooperation agenda. He assured the ambassador of full support during his tenure in Uzbekistan.
"Over the past years, Italy and Uzbekistan have built strong ties of friendship and cooperation, recently elevated to the level of a strategic partnership. I invite our Uzbek friends, as well as Italians interested in this wonderful country, to engage with the embassy in Tashkent to expand and strengthen relations in all areas," the Italian Embassy quoted Ambassador Papadia de Bottini as saying on Instagram.
The appointment of the new ambassador follows the departure of Agostino Pinna, who served as Italy's Ambassador to Uzbekistan since 2020 and concluded his term in late November.
