Uzbekistan and Egypt strengthen bilateral trade and investment cooperation

The two countries highlighted a significant increase in trade turnover, which doubled last year and continues to grow. Notably, the supply of goods like yarn, petroleum, chemicals, and agricultural products has surged. There are currently 15 Egyptian-invested enterprises operating in Uzbekistan, with ongoing projects in food production, geological exploration, and infrastructure modernization.

The 7th session of the Uzbekistan-Egypt Intergovernmental Commission focused on trade, economic, and scientific-technical cooperation. 

At the session, reports were delivered by heads of relevant ministries, departments, and industry associations responsible for the implementation of existing agreements. Each phase of ongoing projects was analyzed in detail, effective solutions were proposed to expedite their successful execution, deadlines were set, and responsible parties were appointed.

The day’s program continued with a business forum, attended by more than 150 leaders of major companies from both countries. The Egyptian side was represented by companies such as El Sewedy Electric, Hassan Allam Holding, ACDIMA, EPICO, Nile Sugar, Badawy Group, Masriya Machine, Ebtkarat Smart Systems, Solyphar, and Al Farouk For Import & Export, among others.

The forum also highlighted the conditions created in Uzbekistan to ensure the comfort of entrepreneurs, protect their rights and interests, and the country’s investment and industrial potential.

A series of B2B and B2G meetings were organized as part of the program, providing entrepreneurs with opportunities to establish new, valuable contacts, discuss the details of mutually beneficial projects, and trade agreements.

At the conclusion of the events, the Protocol of the 7th session of the Uzbekistan-Egypt Intergovernmental Joint Commission was signed, along with several bilateral agreements, including those on technical cooperation in environmental protection, regional cooperation between Samarkand region and Alexandria province, collaboration between Egypt’s Supreme Council of Antiquities and Uzbekistan’s Center of Islamic Civilization, educational cooperation between Ain Shams University and Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies, and a Memorandum of Understanding between the Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry and ACDIMA.
