Bakhodir Jalolov’s fight canceled due to medical issue
Two-time Olympic boxing champion Bakhodir Jalolov has announced the cancellation of his scheduled professional bout on February 6. This fight was set to be his first since winning a second Olympic gold at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics and officially committing to a professional career.

The fight night in Montreal was set to feature Jalolov in a heavyweight clash against French boxer David Spilmont. However, doctors did not clear the Uzbek fighter to compete.
“The fight is canceled. Due to a minor herpes issue, I was not allowed to step into the ring. Both my opponent and I wanted to fight, but the commission denied permission. I’ve had this condition since childhood—whenever I travel to a different country or experience a climate change, it happens,” said the two-time Olympic champion.
Jalolov had been preparing for this fight in Indio, USA.
For reference, Jalolov has an unbeaten professional record of 14 wins, all by knockout. His most recent bout took place in 2023 in Tashkent, where he stopped South African Chris Thompson in the first round. Spilmont, meanwhile, last fought in 2024, securing a fourth-round knockout victory over Artsiom Charniakevich.
