Authorities warn gas stations against unjustified fuel price increases
The Committee for the Development of Competition and Protection of Consumer Rights has begun monitoring prices at automobile gas-filling compressor stations across Uzbekistan.
The inspections aim to identify instances of unjustified fuel price increases and to prevent potential anti-competitive agreements between gas stations.
Price monitoring is being conducted in all regions of the country in connection with the recent changes in fuel excise tax rates that came into effect on April 1 this year. These changes were approved under the law “On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Connection with the Adoption of the Main Guidelines for Tax and Budget Policy for 2025”, dated December 24, 2024.
The Committee urges market participants to adhere to fair competition principles and warns against any artificial inflation of prices.
