On June 19, a passenger scheduled to fly from Tbilisi to Tashkent posted on X (formerly Twitter) about an issue that occurred during the flight. According to the passenger, the plane circled above the airport for half an hour and was unable to continue its flight.
“When the plane took off, there was a loud noise. We circled above the airport for 30 minutes before landing again. Some passengers even claimed to have seen fire on the wing. They told us another aircraft would be sent from Tashkent,” the post read.
According to information provided to Kun.uz by Uzbekistan Airports JSC, the flight in question was operated by Centrum Air. A Kun.uz correspondent reached out to the airline’s marketing department, where representatives confirmed that a technical issue had occurred, but denied any fire on the aircraft’s wing.
“Flight C6222 operating the Tbilisi–Tashkent route received a system signal indicating a technical malfunction and returned to the departure airport. The landing was carried out in the usual manner. The aircraft is currently undergoing technical diagnostics. A replacement aircraft has already been dispatched to transport passengers to Tashkent. Centrum Air apologizes for the inconvenience and is taking all necessary measures to minimize delays and ensure comfortable travel,” the airline stated on its official Telegram channel.
Reportedly, flight C6222 departed at 3:00 AM Uzbekistan time and landed in Tashkent at 7:00 AM. As of now, the results of the technical diagnostics have not been disclosed. A company representative noted that the findings might not be made public.
