Uzbekistan sees 17% rise in foreign student enrolments in first half of 2025

In the first half of 2025, a total of 9,500 foreign nationals arrived in Uzbekistan for educational purposes, according to data from the National Statistics Committee.

This figure represents an increase of 1,400 people, or 17.3%, compared to the same period last year.

From January to June 2025, the largest numbers of international students in Uzbekistan came from the following countries:

• India – 2,780
• Turkmenistan – 2,622
• Tajikistan – 1,145
• China – 459
• South Korea – 381
• Pakistan – 348
• Kyrgyz Republic – 263
• United States – 232
• Afghanistan – 167
• Turkey – 161
• Other countries – 988
