President Mirziyoyev announces moratorium on export debt penalties
At an open dialogue held at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, entrepreneurs requested that debt payments be postponed for several months. The president, however, announced an even broader relief measure – the calculation and collection of penalties for overdue export debts will be suspended for one year.
On August 20, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with entrepreneurs in connection with Entrepreneurs’ Day.
During the meeting, the head of state announced a one-year moratorium for private enterprises on the calculation and collection of penalties for overdue export debts.
This issue had been raised on 4 August during an open dialogue with entrepreneurs organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. While entrepreneurs had asked for a 2–3 month postponement, the president approved a full one-year moratorium. As a result, a broader and more systemic solution was adopted than what entrepreneurs had initially requested.
In preparation for today’s open dialogue, separate meetings were held with nearly 7,000 representatives from 26 sectors. In addition, more than 13,000 appeals and proposals were received through the call center.
