Uzbekistan joins global alliance to end violence against children
Uzbekistan has reinforced its commitment to protecting children’s rights by joining the Pathfinding Global Alliance on Ending Violence Against Children, UNICEF’s Uzbekistan office reported.
The country is the 46th to join the alliance. This step builds on significant progress, including the adoption of the Law “On Protection of Children from All Forms of Violence” in May and the ongoing development of an intersectoral strategy and action plan aimed at ensuring effective protection for every child.
UNICEF, together with the Uzbek government, will work to ensure that every child grows up in a safe and supportive environment.
The UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative on Violence against Children, Najat Maalla M’jid, also welcomed Uzbekistan’s membership, saying: “Uzbekistan is now part of a growing global movement focused on prioritizing investments in child protection and ensuring that every child grows up safe, supported, and free from violence.”
