Nearly 900,000 non-existent jobs found in official records – Prosecutor General
Prosecutor General Nigmatilla Yuldoshev has announced that numerous shortcomings were identified in the government’s efforts to reduce poverty.
According to him, in 2024 nearly 900,000 jobs were added to official reports but were never actually created. Yuldoshev shared this information during a Senate meeting held on September 5.
“Some officials are not paying serious attention to this issue. Our inspections revealed that around 900,000 non-existent jobs were recorded in reports. In 78 cases, 12 billion UZS in wages was embezzled, for which legal measures were taken. In addition, 11 billion UZS in unpaid salaries was recovered and paid to citizens,” the prosecutor general said.
Yuldoshev did not specify who was involved in the falsification or what measures were taken against them.
He also reported that last year prosecutors assisted more than 29,000 entrepreneurs and investors in resolving various issues, while over 7,000 new enterprises were established and 8,000 resumed operations.
“Some 22,000 cases of obstruction to business activity were identified, and strict measures were taken in response,” the head of the Prosecutor General’s Office noted.
