Uzbekistan draws 9.1 million foreign visitors in eight months

Some 9.1 million foreign citizens visited Uzbekistan for tourism purposes between January and August 2026, an increase of 1.6 million, or 21.1%, from the same period a year earlier, the National Statistics Committee said.

The largest number of visitors came from the Kyrgyz Republic, at 2,524,378, followed by Kazakhstan with 2,171,581 and Tajikistan with 2,025,400.

Russia ranked fourth with 867,757 visitors, followed by Afghanistan with 329,620 and China with 318,465.

The number of visitors from Turkmenistan stood at 224,766, while Türkiye accounted for 130,155, India for 39,538 and Germany for 32,249.

Uzbekistan is also expanding its direct international air links.

Starting September 28, Uzbekistan-based Centrum Air will operate regular flights between Tashkent and Hyderabad twice a week. Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to India Sardor Rustambaev said the new route directly implements agreements reached during Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Tashkent on August 29-30.

On September 7, Tourism Committee announced plans to launch direct flights between Tashkent and Mauritius on December 26. Four round trips are scheduled for late December and January, while weekly service is expected to begin in June 2027.
