Siemens Energy may help electrify Uzbekistan’s gas transportation system
Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Energy is considering replacing gas-powered engines with electric ones produced by Siemens Energy, according to Energy Minister Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov.
According to the minister, discussions are underway with the German energy company on the potential electrification of the country’s gas transportation system. The proposed initiative would involve substituting engines that currently use natural gas with electric motors manufactured by Siemens Energy in the United States. The company operates electric motor production facilities in North Carolina and Missouri.
In parallel, Uzbekistan plans several other collaborations in the energy and industrial sectors. Joint projects are being developed with the American company Honeywell in the fuel and energy industry. As part of this cooperation, a Honeywell working group will conduct a seminar on integrating artificial intelligence into technological and industrial processes.
The Ministry of Energy also intends to strengthen cooperation with Schlumberger in the Ustyurt region, focusing on drilling operations and the adoption of advanced technologies. Additionally, the ministry plans to collaborate with Solar Turbines, a subsidiary of Caterpillar, which produces various types of gas compressor units, engines, and cogeneration systems.
“The Ministry of Energy and Siemens Energy are exploring the possibility of electrifying the gas transportation system and replacing engines that run on natural gas with electric ones,” Mirzamakhmudov said.
