Uzbekistan appoints new ambassador to Bangladesh
Sardor Rustambaev has become Uzbekistan’s ambassador to Bangladesh, with residence in New Delhi.
Sardor Rustambaev, Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to the People’s Republic of Bangladesh (with residence in New Delhi), presented his letters of credence to President Mohammed Shahabuddin.
Following the official ceremony, the sides discussed the current state of political, trade and economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian relations between Uzbekistan and Bangladesh, as well as prospects for their expansion.
Mohammed Shahabuddin described Uzbekistan as Bangladesh’s key regional partner and trusted friend in Central Asia. He stressed that, owing to the rapid reforms and consistent initiatives being implemented under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Uzbekistan’s international standing and reputation have been rising in recent years.
The meeting also underlined that the government of Bangladesh attaches particular importance to strengthening trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.
The sides noted significant potential for partnership in sectors such as textiles, pharmaceuticals and leather production. The Bangladeshi side expressed readiness to exchange experience and jointly implement new projects in these areas.
The parties also paid special attention to developing cooperation in cultural and humanitarian spheres, particularly in tourism and higher education.
