Kazakhstan resumes oil transit to Uzbekistan

KazTransOil plans to ship up to 35,000 tons of oil to Uzbekistan in December.

Kazakhstan has resumed transit shipments of oil to Uzbekistan, KazTransOil reported.

Earlier, KazTransOil announced an increase in oil deliveries to Kyrgyzstan and confirmed that transit toward Uzbekistan would resume in December this year.

Oil supplies to Kyrgyzstan resumed in November, after previously being carried out in 2017. By the end of the year, KazTransOil will ship up to 30,000 tons of oil to Kyrgyzstan.

Transit to Uzbekistan is scheduled for December in a volume of up to 35,000 tons.

The combined volume of shipments in both directions will total up to 65,000 tons, including up to 55,000 tons this month alone.

Oil transportation in all directions is carried out through the main pipeline system to the Shagyr loading station, where the oil is transferred into rail tank cars.

Russian oil shipments to Uzbekistan traditionally transit through Kazakhstan. In 2024, transit volumes increased from the planned 500,000 tons to 550,000 tons.

According to data from the National Statistics Committee, Uzbekistan’s imports of oil and petroleum products fell by 1.7 percent to $1.63 billion over the first ten months of the year. Exports of oil and petroleum products reached $541.3 million, a 7.7 percent increase.
