Uzbekistan introduces automatic OneID registration for new ID cards
Uzbekistan will begin automatically registering citizens in the OneID system when issuing new ID cards, a move aimed at advancing digitalization in migration and personal identification services.
A presidential resolution titled “On measures to elevate the activities of internal affairs bodies in migration and personalization through digitalization” has been officially adopted.
Under the new system, starting February 1, all individuals receiving an ID card for the first time will automatically be issued an electronic digital signature (EDS) certificate embedded in the card’s chip. This service will be provided free of charge.
Simultaneously, citizens will be automatically registered in the Unified Information System for User Identification within the Electronic Government platform (OneID).
The initiative is designed to strengthen the management of migration and personal identification services while ensuring a consistent advancement of digitalization in public administration.
