Uzbekistan records 22% rise in outbound tourism in 2025
The number of Uzbek citizens traveling abroad for tourism reached 7.6 million in 2025, marking a year-on-year increase of 22.2 percent.
According to data released by the National Statistics Committee, the figure represents an increase of nearly 1.4 million trips compared to 2024. Officials attributed the growth to several factors, including more open borders with neighboring countries, expanded transport links, an increase in the number of flights, and a rising public interest in international travel.
Statistics show that neighboring countries accounted for the majority of outbound trips, reflecting geographic proximity, simplified border procedures, and strong economic and family ties.
In 2025, the most frequently visited destinations by Uzbek citizens were:
- Kyrgyzstan — 3.3 million visitors
- Kazakhstan — 1.3 million
- Tajikistan — 1.3 million
- Russia — 433,300
- Saudi Arabia — 366,200
- Turkey — 268,900
- United Arab Emirates — 139,400
- Egypt — 65,400
- China — 52,600
- Vietnam — 39,100
While travel to neighboring states dominated overall figures, more distant destinations such as Turkey, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Egypt continued to rank among the most popular choices. Visits to these countries were primarily driven by leisure travel, pilgrimage, and business trips.
Authorities expect outbound tourism to remain strong in the coming years, with the range of destinations likely to expand further as connectivity improves and demand continues to grow.
