More than 250 mayor assistants prosecuted for corruption in Uzbekistan last year
More than 250 assistants to regional and district mayors in Uzbekistan were held criminally liable for corruption-related offenses last year.
Information on corruption crimes committed by mayor assistants during the past year has been disclosed based on court statistics.
According to the Supreme Court, courts across the country reviewed 153 criminal cases in 2025 involving corruption offenses committed by mayor assistants. As a result, 252 individuals were prosecuted for such crimes.
The court rulings included a range of penalties depending on the severity of the offenses.
Within the framework of these decisions:
- 37 individuals were sentenced to imprisonment
- 38 individuals received restricted liberty sentences
- 160 individuals were assigned corrective labor penalties
- 12 individuals were fined
- 5 individuals received other types of punishment
The Anti-Corruption Agency stated that it supports efforts by all government bodies and organizations to combat corruption and remains ready to provide methodological assistance in this area.
The agency emphasized that it will continue cooperating with state institutions to strengthen anti-corruption measures and promote transparency in public administration.
