Uzbekistan and Latvia move to strengthen bilateral cooperation in labor migration
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Olimjon Abdullaev, held talks with the Ambassador of Latvia, Ģirts Jaunzems, to discuss the current state and future prospects of bilateral relations.

According to the ministry, the primary focus of the dialogue was the protection of the rights and legal interests of Uzbek citizens residing in Latvia.
During the discussions, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that both parties explored ways to strengthen cooperation in the field of labor migration. Key priorities included accelerating the signing of an intergovernmental agreement aimed at streamlining migration processes and expanding existing channels for organized labor migration between the two nations.
The meeting concluded with both sides expressing a mutual interest in maintaining a regular and constructive dialogue. The officials agreed on a series of joint steps to further develop collaboration and ensure the welfare of migrant workers through official frameworks.
