Amusement park ride collapse in Andijan leaves several injured
An amusement ride collapsed at a leisure complex in Andijan region on Sunday, leaving several people injured, according to witnesses and officials. The incident occurred at the Babur recreation park, also known as “Bogishamol”, where a chain snapped, causing a passenger-carrying ride to fall to the ground.
Videos circulating on social media showed parts of the ride scattered across the site immediately after the accident. Witnesses told Kun.uz that at least seven people were injured during the mechanical failure.
The Andijan Regional Emergency Situations Department confirmed that a metal structure of one of the rides broke on April 26. According to the official statement, two people sustained minor injuries and were promptly provided with medical assistance.
While the immediate aftermath was captured by park visitors, authorities have not yet disclosed the definitive cause of the incident. An investigation into the maintenance records and safety standards of the park's equipment is expected to follow.
