KOICA to fund new IT hubs and digital training centers across Uzbekistan
The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) will provide a $14 million grant to Uzbekistan to bolster the country’s information technology education sector.
According to the Ministry of Digital Technologies, this initiative aims to enhance the IT training ecosystem while supporting youth entrepreneurship and employment in the high-tech industry.
The project, which is fully funded by the South Korean side, involves the establishment and equipping of modern IT hubs in the cities of Nukus and Karshi. Additionally, the plan includes the creation of 14 IT centers across seven different districts. The construction and implementation phase of these facilities is scheduled to take place between 2026 and 2032.
Beyond infrastructure development, the project focuses heavily on human capital. Over a four-year period, the program will facilitate the training of 500 specialists and educators in cutting-edge fields. The curriculum will cover essential digital disciplines such as artificial intelligence, prompt engineering, software programming, the Internet of Things (IoT), and online marketing.
The collaboration also extends to the startup ecosystem, with leading South Korean experts set to assist in launching specialized incubation programs.
