Uzhydromet warns of mudslides and flash floods in mountainous areas
Uzhydromet has issued a flood and mudslide warning for the foothill and mountainous regions of Uzbekistan, effective from April 28 to May 4. The alert comes as a result of forecasted heavy rainfall across several parts of the republic, raising concerns over potential water accumulation and subsequent flooding.

According to the national weather service, mudslide and flood events are possible in numerous districts across nine provinces. In Kashkadarya, the warning covers the Yakkabag, Dehkanabad, Chirakchi, Kitob, Shakhrisabz, Kamashi, and Guzar districts. In Surkhandarya, affected areas include Sariosiyo, Uzun, Altinsay, Denau, Boysun, Sherabad, Shurchi, Kumkurgan, and Muzrabat.
Samarkand province also faces significant risks, particularly in the Urgut, Samarkand, Bulungur, Nurabad, Koshrabat, Kattakurgan, Payaryk, Jomboy, and Ishtikhon districts. Similar conditions are expected in the Navbakhor, Khatirchi, Nurata, Kanimekh, and Karmana districts of Navoi, as well as the Zamin, Bakhmal, Gallaorol, Sharof Rashidov, Forish, and Yangiabad districts of Jizzakh province.
In Tashkent region, authorities have highlighted the districts of Akhangaran, Bostanlyk, Parkent, Piskent, Orta Chirchiq, and Yuqori Chirchiq, along with the cities of Angren and Almalyk. The Fergana Valley regions are also under alert, including the Pop, Kasansay, Chartak, Chust, Namangan, and Yangikurgan districts of Namangan province; the Sokh, Shakhimardan, Fergana, and Besharyk districts of Fergana province; and several districts in Andijan province, including Asaka, Jalaquduq, Kurgantepa, Pakhtaabad, Izboskan, Khojaabad, Marhamat, and the city of Khanabad.
Uzhydromet has strongly advised residents living in these foothill and mountainous areas, as well as tourists and drivers traveling through these regions, to take necessary precautions. The agency also noted that the accumulation of rainwater across the republic could lead to localized flooding in low-lying areas.
