April in Uzbekistan was warmer than average, with temperatures ranging 1 to 2.6 degrees Celsius above seasonal norms, while most parts of the country saw below-average rainfall, Uzhydromet said.

The state weather agency noted that April 2026 extended a series of unusually warm Aprils recorded in recent years. During the hottest days of the month, daytime temperatures climbed to 28–33 degrees Celsius, reaching 34–36 degrees in some northern, southern, and desert areas.

Even so, this year’s April was cooler than April 2025, which ranked among the three warmest Aprils on record across much of Uzbekistan and set monthly temperature records in many regions. The coldest stretch this year occurred between April 15 and April 18, when nighttime temperatures fell to 5–10 degrees Celsius and daytime temperatures dropped to 13–18 degrees Celsius.

Uzhydromet said weather conditions during the month were favorable for orchard blossoming, spring sowing campaigns, and the early development of crops.

Rainfall in April was relatively limited overall, with precipitation levels below climate norms across most of the country. However, rainfall exceeded long-term averages in Karakalpakstan, Khorezm and Navoi regions, and much of the Bukhara region, where normal precipitation levels are typically low.

The Samarkand region and the foothill and mountainous parts of Kashkadarya and Surkhandarya regions also recorded rainfall at or above normal levels, despite generally higher climate averages in those areas.

Several parts of the country experienced heavy downpours during the month. In some areas, rainfall reached 15–35 millimeters within 24 hours, while foothill areas of Kashkadarya and Tashkent regions received 40–50 millimeters within a few hours, equivalent to 30% to 70% of the monthly average, the agency said.

In the northern parts of Karakalpakstan and the Kyzylkum desert, including at the Kungrad, Jaslyk, and Jongeldi weather stations, rainfall totaled 120% to 220% of monthly norms.

The rains were frequently accompanied by thunderstorms, strong winds, and hail in some areas. Uzhydromet said the weather conditions also led to increased mudflow and flash flood activity in foothill and mountainous regions.
