The founder of the Rayhon Oilaviy Milliy Taomlari restaurant chain, Odilkhon Ismoilov, widely known as ‘Odilkhon qori’, and six other defendants have been sentenced following a criminal trial.
According to the verdict delivered by the Pop District Criminal Court in Namangan region, all seven defendants were found guilty under several provisions of the Criminal Code.
The convictions include:
· Article 167, Part 3(a) (embezzlement or misappropriation);
· Article 209, Part 2(a) (official forgery);
· Article 227, Part 2(a) (unlawful acquisition, destruction, damage or concealment of documents, stamps, seals, forms and state registration plates of motor vehicles and their trailers);
· Article 228, Part 2(a, b) (manufacturing, forging, selling or using forged documents, stamps, seals and forms).
The court sentenced the scholar to eight years in prison. In accordance with Article 62 of the Criminal Code, which governs the crediting of time spent in detention, his final term of imprisonment was calculated as seven years, 11 months and 28 days.
The remaining six defendants received prison sentences of varying lengths, depending on the nature of their criminal conduct.
The court also ruled that the material damages caused in the case must be recovered jointly from the convicted individuals.
The parties were informed that they have the right to appeal or file a cassation complaint against the first-instance verdict before the Namangan Regional Court within the time limits and in accordance with the procedures established by law.
