According to the figures presented at the meeting, electricity losses exceed 25% in Andijan city and the districts of Asaka, Yangiabad, Koson, Kukdala, Boysun, Altinsay, Qoshtepa, Tashlak, Qoshrabad and Samarkand.
Officials also pointed to persistent shortcomings in the operation of automated utility metering systems. Although the Automated System for Commercial Electricity Metering (ASCEM) and the Automated System for Commercial Gas Metering (ASCGM) were introduced more than four years ago, 300,000 gas meters and 234,000 electricity meters installed in households are still not transmitting data to the central network.
As a result, accounts receivable in a number of regions continue to grow instead of declining, highlighting ongoing problems with monitoring energy consumption and collecting payments.
