According to Uzbekistan Airports, between January and June, the country's airports handled 64,831 flights, up 8% year-on-year. Of those, 47,371 were international flights and 17,460 were domestic.
Passenger traffic reached 8,153,470 during the six-month period, including 6,698,358 travelers on international routes and 1,455,112 on domestic services. Cargo and mail handling also increased sharply, rising 33% from a year earlier to 51,546 tons.
Tashkent International Airport remained the country's busiest air hub, handling 40,283 flights, up 7% from the first half of 2025. Passenger traffic at the airport climbed 17% to 5,364,282, while cargo and mail volumes rose 33% to 48,170 tons. Uzbekistan Airports attributed the growth to the expansion of the airport's route network.
The strongest growth in passenger traffic was recorded at the airports in Termez, up 52%, followed by Urgench with 24% and Nukus with 23%. The company said the increase was driven by the launch of new international routes and a higher number of domestic flights during the tourist season.
At the same time, several airports posted weaker results. Fergana airport handled 11% fewer flights, while passenger traffic declined by 11% at Namangan airport, 22% at Karshi airport and 27% at Navoi airport. Flights at Karshi airport also fell by 6%.
According to Uzbekistan Airports, the declines were linked to changes in route networks, shifting demand on certain destinations and the impact of the current geopolitical situation, which has led airlines to revise their flight schedules.
